“Another impressive performance!”
All our floor ladies, our entire breakfast team, and our two technicians have worked non-stop over the last few weeks!
SPRING CLEANING was on the agenda, ON TOP OF their regular tasks…
The entire hotel was turned upside down, cloths and dusters were wiped and waved, and our carpet cleaners went into battle with the vacuum cleaners!
Now all that's missing is the first ray of the spring sun to bring out the shine and sparkle!
“NEW window walls on EVERY floor!”
In EVERY corridor, ALL the window walls have been replaced over the last few weeks!
Single glazing that served for over 50 years has now been replaced with energy-efficient Thermal TRIPLE glazing!
Masons, locksmiths, plumbers, painters, and above all, a SUPER DILIGENT window team worked tirelessly.
At one point, they even worked for several hours in the middle of a snowstorm!
But this never put a damper on their diligence and good mood...
THANK YOU to ALL the teams of workmen, who have done a really great job!
And a special THANK YOU to our MAGNIFICENT guests, who have shown so MUCH UNDERSTANDING during this time…!

The Musée d'Orsay in Paris is making a selection of outstanding drawings available to the Albertina for an exhibition.
"Degas, Cézanne, Seurat. The Dream Archive from the Musée d'Orsay" is the exhibition's title. Two hundred works from the collection of 80,000 drawings belonging to the Musée d'Orsay can be seen in Vienna between January and May. They include works by pre-eminent artists such as Edgar Degas, Charles Baudelaire and Paul Cézanne. The exhibition has been curated by Werner Spies, who is not only director of the Musée national d'art moderne in Paris, but was also on friendly terms with important drawers of the 20th century, including Max Ernst and Pablo Picasso.
Amongst the pieces on loan from the Musée d'Orsay are works that are already complete in themselves. Regardless of whether it is a sketch or a finished work - the drawing always bears the distinctive style of the artist. As the drawing requires only little material, it offers ideals opportunities for experimentation. The museum's collection of drawings encompasses self-portraits, notes on everyday life and visions.

Egon Schiele and Wally Neuzil
The painting "Wally" is one of Egon Schiele's best-known works. An exhibition in the Leopold Museum deals with the woman behind the picture.
From early 1911, Walburga "Wally" Neuzil (1894-1917) was not only a model for Egon Schiele, but also his girlfriend until the spring of 1915. The exhibition "Wally Neuzil. Her life with Egon Schiele" in the Leopold Museum approaches the woman through artworks, autographs, photos and documents. On show are important works by Schiele, such as the famous paintings "Wally" and "Death and Girl" as well as other drawings and watercolors by the artists, for which Wally posed as a model.
The exhibition outlines the various stages of Wally’s life: from model to nurse. It presents the life of a woman around the turn of the last century and her influence on Egon Schiele. She went with him to Krumau and Neulengbach in 1911, stood by him during his time in prison in April 1912 and remained his most important reference person until 1915. When Schiele learned of Wally’s death in 1917, he also renamed the painting from "Man and Girl" to "Death and Girl" ...

Jesus Christ Superstar
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock opera comes to the Raimund Theatre as an Easter special for nine performances. Musical star Drew Sarich plays the roll of Jesus in this concert performance of the English version.
In the rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar Judas tells the story of the last seven days in the life of Jesus in Jerusalem. The story is about Mary Magdalene's love for Jesus, the Last Supper, King Herod's verdict and Judas' betrayal which in the end leads to Jesus' death.
Under the direction of Werner Sobotka Drew Sarich assumes the role of Jesus, on his side Nadine Beiler plays Mary Magdalene. The orchestra of the United Stages of Vienna will play the music, directed by Koen Schoots.
The cornerstone of the piece was laid in 1969 by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, who was only 21 years old at the time, with their single called "Superstar." By 1971 they had developed it into a rock opera that first came out as an album and then was performed, in July 1971, as a concert in Pittsburgh. In October 1971 it premiered in New York. This was followed by Universal's filming in 1982.

Vienna Blues Spring 2015
Vienna has the blues - with the world’s longest-running blues festival. Hundreds of musicians fill various venues across Vienna with all variations of the genre during Vienna Blues Spring from 20 March to 30 April.
There’s classic Delta and Chicago blues, rock and soul blues, as well as boogie, interpreted by international stars and the best of the Viennese scene.
Most of the concerts are held at the Reigen. Performers include Zakiya Hooker, the daughter of blues superstar John Lee Hooker, the American Bernard Allison, and Duke Robillard, guitarist from the band of the legendary Brit John Mayall. Chicago blues man Steve Guyger is already a permanent feature at the festival. A few ladies also give guest performances at the Reigen, including the diva Candye Kane ("You Need a Great Big Woman") and the Austrians Meena Cryle and Natascha Flamisch.
The local blues great Norbert Schneider has the honor of performing yet again at the Vienna Blues Spring. One of the concert highlights will certainly be the evening with the Italian blues star Mike Sponza, who performs together with Ian Siegal from Britain.
Other gigs are held at Theater Akzent, the House of Music and at Mozarthaus Vienna, where Hermann Posch and others will play. He is a poster child of the domestic scene, whose slide play on the guitar is considered famous. This is how the blues feeling is created in the midst of springtime in Vienna.
