Despite a few sleepless nights, the parents are overjoyed and brother Robin is also proud of his little sister.

Eurovision Village at the Rathausplatz

A hotspot for all fans of the Eurovision Song Contest is City Hall Square in Vienna from 17 to 23 May 2015.

The Eurovision Village at the Rathausplatz will offer live music from Song Contest participants, public screening events, themed evenings, family programs and much more between May 17 and 23, 2015. Fans from all over the world will be able to enjoy a huge party celebrating tolerance and music for over one week in the heart of Vienna. A large stage with huge screen forms the center of the Eurovision Village.

Apart from the live appearances by the artists the three public viewing evenings on May 19, 21 and 23 are also certain to be among the highlights. This is because both of the semifinals as well as the Grand Final which are shown live on TV will of course also be shown on the huge screen.

The eight-meter high countdown tower will also be at the Rathausplatz, counting down the seconds until the first semifinal live show on May 19, 2015 at 21:00.

Life Ball

The Life Ball is one of the biggest AIDS charity events in the world. The party on May 16 in front of Vienna's City Hall promises to be flashy, colorful and loud, in order to generate donations for AIDS relief projects and to promote public awareness of HIV and AIDS.

The Viennese Secessionists provided inspiration for this year's motto "Gold – Ver Sacrum | Santa Primavera | Sacre du Printemps". "Ver Sacrum", the spring festival which originates in ancient Rome, is reflected in Gustav Klimt's golden paintings and in Igor Stravinsky's ballet music "Sacre du Printemps” (The Rite of Spring). This year, the stage will consist of an scaled-up replica of the Vienna Secession and following the Life Ball will be part of the Eurovision Village for the Eurovision Song Contest.

The opulent opening show at City Hall Square, with numerous appearances by international stars and a fashion show, is open to the public. Every year, 40,000spectators follow the colorful goings-on. This year's fashion show is created by star designer Jean Paul Gaultier, exactly 20 years after his legendary Life Ball premiere in 1995. A large number of celebrities will attend this year's Life Ball again without compensation, including Hollywood star Charlize Theron.

On the evening before the Life Ball, on 15 May, the "Red Ribbon Celebration Concert" will be held for the fourth time in the Burgtheater. International opera stars such as Anna Netrebko, Diana Damrau, Juan Diego Flórez, Plácido Domingo, Thomas Quasthoff and Yusif Eyvazov perform. Well-known actors such as Birgit Minichmayr or Konstanze Breitebner give readings between the musical offerings.

Genussfestival

At the beginning of May, the Vienna Stadtpark will be turned into a place of epicurean delights: The "Genussfestival" will be a showcase for select culinary specialties from Austria.

Vienna escargot and wine from Vienna, gray poppyseed oil from the Waldviertel, Carinthian honey, saffron from the Wachau, spicy cheese from Vorarlberg: At the "Wiener Genussfestival" from 8 to 10 May 2015, the best Austrian food producers and cottage industries invite you to sample and savor their delights in one of the city's prettiest parks. In addition to around 180 exhibitors, leading Austrian chefs serve regional specialties in the gourmet tent. The Genussfestival is being held in 2015 for the eigth time.

The Stadtpark is Vienna's oldest public park; it was created in about 1860 when the Vienna city walls were torn down and the Ringstrasse was built. The city's perhaps most photographed monument is also located here - the gold-plated statue of the king of waltz, Johann Strauss.

Donaukanaltreiben

This three-day music and culture festival will draw about 30,000 guests to the Danube Canal in Vienna again from 29 to 31 May 2015. The inner-city waterway is a popular recreational area and an annual venue for numerous live concerts by Austrian indie bands.

There is a brilliantly colorful program from the Spittelau to Franzensbrücke, with free admission at about a dozen locations, including the Summer Stage, Strandbar Hermann and the Badeschiff. The DJ sets, dance workshops, fashion shows, sports and numerous culinary specialties at the Donaukanaltreiben will evoke a vacation feeling - and of course any number of live concerts by high-caliber, predominantly Austrian bands.

The established music project DelaDap brings urban pop music you can dance to to the stage, with elements of club culture and global folklore. The four-person Viennese combo At Pavillon is a band that has only recently started to make its mark and should be kept in view. Freud, by its own definition, plays "Pop’n’Roll" with elements of Sixties beat via disco to punk and glam-rock. Also in the constantly growing line-up are singer-songwriter Stuard and the band Intergalactic Lovers from Belgium.

The yellow Wiener Bootstaxi will transport visitors to the individual locations across the water for free. From 10.00 pm, there are indoor after-show parties in selected locations.
