Our very own Director purchased it in Ottawa / Canada in 1989. Due to job commitments, this piano travelled to New Jersey / USA on to Hilden / North Germany and then, at some point to the shores of the Neusiedler lake / in Burgenland, until it landed here, at Hotel AUSTRIA!
This upright piano not only journeyed halfway around the world, but could also probably play many a personal tune for us...!

In summer, ImPulsTanz turns Vienna into an international hot-spot of dance. Europe's biggest dance festival presents countless performances from 16 July to 16 August. This time around, museums also become stages. Fans of movement can get in on the action at 250 workshops.
ImPulsTanz presents international dance stars as well as Austrian productions to the world for the first time, including a group piece by Akemi Takeya, who hails from Japan and lives in Vienna, and a reworking of ballet history with the energy-guzzling physical exertions of Florentina Holzinger and Vincent Riebeek. nadaproductions present a new production of the almost forgotten movements of dance anthropologists Amanda Piña and Daniel Zimmermann.
Furthermore, international newcomers shake at the state of the art of dance in the [8:tension] Young Choreographers' Series.
ImPulsTanz goes on choreographic expeditions: The Weltmuseum Wien, the mumok and the 21er Haus are turned into spectacular temples of dance. Stars such as Jennifer Lacey, Keith Hennessy, Ko Murobushi and Anne Juren set new accents in the area of contemporary dance in the middle of the mumok exhibition on Viennese Actionism.
Dancers at the top of their game support beginners and professionals, children and golden agers, yogis and voguers with their knowledge in 250 workshops. And if that's not enough, there are DJ nights and concerts in the ImPulsTanz Festival Lounge in the Burgtheater foyer each evening, or parties in the casino on Schwarzenbergplatz at which to dance the night away.

Vienna Jazz Festival
From 1 to 11 July, the Vienna Jazz Festival brings high-ranking stars such as Thomas Quasthoff, Paul Weller, Malia and Roger Cicero to Vienna's stages.
The Vienna Jazz Festival, a fixed item in the annual festival series, offers more than the eponymous cool sound. Soul, funk, pop, electronic and ethnic sounds can also be enjoyed - and all in leading venues such as the Vienna State Opera,
which provides the opportunity to discover Roger Cicero's jazz side. The non-conformist Canadian pianist Chilly Gonzales gives a double concert with the tango-conscious band Plaza Francia; Melody Gardot sings beguilingly fragile ballads and the British-Malawian singer Malia presents electro-soul.
A highlight of the Vienna Jazz Festival is without doubt the "Sinatra Tribute" with Thomas Quasthoff, Angelika Kirchschlager, Allan Harris, Louie Austen and the orchestra of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien (United Stages of Vienna). José James takes to the stage of the State Opera in the second half of the concert.
Another double concert provides the chance to hear the "Godfather of Britpop" and eternal Mod Paul Weller and the Austrian singer-songwriter Ernst Molden.
An open-air concert on the grounds of Wien Energie Fernwärme will delight audiences for several hours. There are also concerts in the colonnaded courtyard of Vienna City Hall with a cappella band Naturally 7 and others. Music will be played on the Summer Stage, a venue by the Danube Canal - admission is free. Fixed names on the line-up of the Porgy & Bess jazz club are Sarah McKenzie, the Viola Hammer Trio and the Jason Marsalis Vibes Quartet - much more follows.
