“No Stone Left Unturned!”

For weeks our ladies in housekeeping and service and our gentlemen in hotel maintenance have untiringly cleaned, scrubbed, and polished! EVERYTHING has actually been laid out, cleaned, polished to shine, and checked/repaired. In every room, in the dining hall, in the lobby and guest areas – nowhere has a stone been left unturned!
Our ladies and gents have been really doing the hardest work possible – ONLY for YOU! This way, our guests can experience Vienna in the CLEANEST atmosphere possible!

… For small (as well as bigger) appetites!

Tired legs and feet after a long sightseeing tour or shopping day?
Bad weather that just makes you want to do anything but go out?
A thrilling crime story or football match on TV?
Still too much work left waiting for you the next day?

These and many other reasons sometimes keep one from going out to restaurants. So that we can take care of your creature comforts in these situations, we’ve “opened” our own small bistro. A selection of convenience / ready-to-eat frozen food – from Viennese cuisines to pasta dishes – is available for you to choose any time of the day or night, can be heated in a few minutes, and enjoyed in the comfort of your room.

“Cardinal Red meets Schönbrunn Yellow!’’

… and with this an elegance that could hardly be surpassed!
Is there really anything like it? Take a good look – after an initial inspection of our buffet – as well at our new carpeted floor at the breakfast hall and you’ll agree with us. Yes, there is definitely such a thing!

We’ll be happy to keep you informed about all the dates / schedules and perhaps even let you in on a few secrets too

The blue rider: Kandinsky, Klee, Kubin

The Albertina is granting the "Der Blaue Reiter" (The Blue Rider) artist's group its own exhibit. The exhibit will include works by Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee and Alfred Kubin.

"The Blue Rider" is a loosely affiliated group of artists founded in 1911 by Wassily Kandinsky that brings together important German and Russian expressionist painters. Its artistic scope ranges from the drawings of Gabriele Münter and August Macke to the delicate lines of Paul Klee and the abstract watercolors of Kandinsky.

Kandinsky's watercolors and drawings form the heart of the exhibit in the Albertina. These will be supplemented by the works of Paul Klee, Alfred Kubin, August Macke, Franz Marc, Heinrich Campendonk, Marianne von Werefkin and Robert Delaunay. Some of the displayed watercolors, drawings and prints originate from the Munich Lenbachhaus. The display will be enhanced by around 120 works from the collections of the Albertina.

Pop Art in the Albertina

The first major exhibits of 2011 in the Albertina are dedicated to two prominent representatives of Pop Art: Roy Lichtenstein and Mel Ramos.

"Roy Lichtenstein. Black & White" starts off the show on January 28, 2011. The exhibit focuses on Lichtenstein's artistic change of direction in the 1960s: in 1961, the U.S. artist, who died in 1997, turned to black and white drawings. Inspired by advertising and media illustrations and comic strips, Lichtenstein created about 70 impressive black and white drawings by 1968. Lichtenstein also made several black and white paintings that will be shown for the first time together with the drawings.

Three weeks later, beginning on February 18, 2011, the Albertina will also present "Mel Ramos. Girls, Candies & Comics". This is to date the largest European retrospective of the Californian artist's work, occasioned by his seventy-fifth birthday in 2010. All of his creative phases will be represented in the exhibit: early paintings, images of comic heroes and Wonder Women from the 1960s, and his commercial pin-ups, which made him world-famous. In his oil satires of contemporary advertising, Ramos painted chic pin-up girls leaning lasciviously on over-sized Cola bottles or cigarette packages. His latest works, and even some of his sculptures, are also on display.

Akkordeon Festival

At the 12th International Akkordeon-Festival (accordion festival), curious music fans will have an entire month to get to know the instrument and its various facets.

International and domestic artists alike are on the jam-packed program - and on 18 different stages from Porgy & Bess jazz club to the Filmcasino.

Up to three acts per day will play from February 26 to March 27. Over 40 concerts reflect the full stylistic range of the accordion between tradition and lots of innovation.

The francophile focus of this year's festival will be embodied by world music giants Bratsch, Les Poulettes & Les Madeleines, and others. The series "Us and the world" lets Austrian and international artists encounter each other such as the young Austrian accordion wonder Paul Schuberth and the Serbian musician Nenad Vasilic.

Of course, female musicians will be represented as well, including Guro Von Germeten from Norway and Canadian Wendy McNeil in a double concert with Mika Vember from Austria.
Other mainstays on the program are the Silent Movie Matinee and the Magic Afternoon for children.
