“Our Power Women – On the Floor”
A few weeks ago, the thermometers in Vienna still showed temperatures of over 32°C (88°F)! Our housekeeping ladies just had to drag fragrant and cuddly soft bed linen in each floor first ting in the morning to warm them up right from the start…
They were seen haring about between the guestrooms so they can provide freshly-ironed bed linen on all the beds, vacuum the floors, dust off all of the furniture, and wipe and polish your bathrooms for as long as possible to make the tiles shine as much as their sweaty foreheads…
No one ever complained about the work despite these “tropical” temperatures. All of them “just” showed a SMILE!
Thank you to our housekeeping ladies!
“Our Power Women – in Service and in the Kitchen”
During this time, it’s a mix of alternating desert and greenhouse temperatures in our kitchen! It doesn’t matter if it’s delicious-smelling Tyrolean bacon being fried and sizzled, freshly-laid eggs getting cooked, a huge quantity of dishes and glasses getting washed and dried right after at 100°C, and finally the over-the-top, delicious lunch for our Hotel AUSTRIA staff getting magically conjured…
In our kitchen, all of our ceiling and standing ventilators are running in full force! In the dining room, there is of course air-conditioning for our guests. But in the kitchen area, all of them are also milling about with shiny foreheads! And here too, you’ll see them with “just” a SMILE!
Thank you to our ladies in the kitchen and in service!
“And Additionally, Two More Power Women”
“How life goes like it does...”
Our Mr. Sasa was suddenly left all alone to work in maintenance and guest services, as his co-worker had left us. We’ve intensely searched a few weeks (!) for a new co-worker – and found someone in the meantime.
During those weeks of searching however, two of our LADIES have “quite simply” taken over the work left unattended. Each week, they’ve dragged 300-400 kilograms of new bed linen / covers in all of the floors each week and carried two containers of food stuff and cleaning materials to the cellar, they’ve worked daily in our laundry room, dragged luggage, disposed of trash, and done much more…
Thank you to Frau Thereza and thank you to Frau Amie!

Hollywood in Vienna
On 21 and 22 October, the concert gala "Hollywood in Vienna" held in the Vienna Konzerthaus provides "Thrilling Moments" – this year’s motto.
The ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna and Hollywood's star conductor and composer David Newman spirit the audience away into the secretive underworlds of suspense cinema. Gedeon Burkhard is the compere for the program.
Starting from Billy Wilder's film noir Sunset Boulevard, we move on into the breathtaking world of Alfred Hitchcock (Rebecca, Psycho). Ennio Morricone's music for All the President's Men leads on the trail of Al Capone. Nino Rota portrays the powerful Mafia boss of the Corleone family with his sounds for The Godfather.
An erotic-obsessive moment flares up in Jerry Goldsmith's Basic Instinct. Hans Zimmer's sound painting for Inception draws the listeners through shared dreams into different levels of consciousness.
Lalo Schifrin, who is celebrating his 80th birthday this year, receives the Max Steiner Film Music Achievement Award. The way Schifrin combines jazz and symphonics inspires audiences and critics alike. His musical theme for Mission Impossible wrote a piece of film history. He calls six Oscar nominations, four Grammys (21 nominations) and a star on Hollywood's "Walk of Fame" his own. Highlights from Schifrin's musical body of work can be heard, with the master also taking up the conductor's baton himself.
21 October 2012, 7.30 pm (concert gala, no award ceremony)
22 October 2012, 7.30 pm (concert gala with award ceremony)
