This year, we’ve chosen Swansita Fabits, who has immediately persuaded us with her personal demeanor and her excellent school reports. She is a student of a college specializing in tourism in Vienna and will be bringing a lot of youthful swing during the summer months.

A fact that makes millions of visitors to Vienna so enthusiastic has again been confirmed by a well-known international city survey: Vienna’s the best in every way!!!
Each year the international consulting firm Mercer does a survey to evaluate the quality of living in 221 cities around the world. This year's survey results give Vienna top grades, ranking Austria's capital as the World's Most Livable City for the second time in a row.
The survey compares the political, social and economic climate, medical care, education, and infrastructural conditions such as public transportation, power and water supply.
It also takes into consideration recreational offers such as restaurants, theaters, cinemas, sports facilities, the availability of all kinds of consumer goods from food to cars, as well as environmental conditions - from green space to air pollution.
In the MuseumsQuartier (MQ), summer will already start on 29 April. A mixture of music, culture and action awaits visitors until September.
During "Summer in the MQ", Vienna's museum quarter - one of the world's largest cultural areas - will present itself as an urban oasis of joie de vivre. Its spacious courtyards are a popular summer hang-out from early May until late September. In addition to art, culture, theater, music, dance, performances and literature, inviting boules tracks, children's workshops and sunny sidewalk cafés entice the visitor with cool sounds. Trendy bars and restaurants ensure that life continues to pulsate at the city oasis until late in the evening. The famous designer loungers called Enzis will radiate in bright pink this year.
Until the end of September 2010
Every summer, Vienna City Hall is a pulsating meeting point for classical fans and night owls – with lots to please the palate as well as free film shows.
Against the backdrop of the illuminated City Hall, a first-rate program on a giant screen gets the hearts of all music lovers beating faster as darkness falls. The selection of classical superhits ranges from opera and operetta to dance and concert performances.
The main focus is on the year's regents for 2010: Frédéric Chopin, Gustav Mahler, Leonard Bernstein and Pierre Boulez. Recordings of the dream opera duo, Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazón, and piano virtuoso Lang Lang are on the program, as are jazz evenings by legends Grace Jones, Natalie Cole and Herbie Hancock.
There is a unique break in the Film Festival this year: from 13 to 18 July the stage is free for the Life Ball. The program of musical film from 19 to 23 July is also very much in the spirit of the International AIDS Conference (18 - 23 July 2010). Documentaries on Rudolf Nureyev and Klaus Nomi will be screened, as well as the Swan Lake ballet by Matthew Bourne, in which all the swan dancers are men.
Every day, around 20 top restaurateurs invite you to embark on a culinary world tour starting in the morning, with lavish delights from all over the world.

The shrill AIDS charity event on July 17th witnesses the celebration of a glittering party in the spirit of solidarity and tolerance. Whoopi Goldberg and Bill Clinton are the star guests. Diane von Furstenberg, Calvin Klein and Kenneth Cole will present their creations at the Life Ball.
The 18th Life Ball will hit the stage even bigger and with a few innovations on July 17th, 2010. This year, Europe's largest AIDS benefit event marks the start of the International AIDS Conference, which is being held from July 18th to 23rd in Vienna. The Life Ball will include the City Hall as well as the Burgtheater and Parliament for this first time.
The party at City Hall will be shrill, colorful and loud. Opposite, in the Burgtheater, a grand summer ball will be held with the "Red Ribbon Cotillion". The dress code: tails or dinner jacket for gentlemen, long evening dress for the ladies.
The Parliament will be the setting for the exclusive amfAR gala with Oscar-winner Whoopi Goldberg as guest of honor, who will also play a major role in the opening of the Life Ball. Another guest star to visit the Life Ball will be former US President Bill Clinton.
The grand opening show will begin at City Hall at 10.00 pm. On the stage, a large globe symbolizes the element of earth. Under the slogan "Sow the Seeds of Solidarity", there will be performances by international guest stars and a lavish fashion show with the US designer labels Diane von Furstenberg, Calvin Klein and Kenneth Cole. 40,000 onlookers watch the colorful event every year.
For several months the entire appearance of Vienna changes for the AIDS congresses. An outsized AIDS ribbon (Red Ribbon) decorates the façade of City Hall on the night of the Life Ball and during the music film festival. Two Life Ball trams run through the city for several months to generate greater awareness about the issue of AIDS. Even the city's parks and gardens are given a makeover.
Tickets for the Life Ball, Red Ribbon Cotillon and amfAR Gala are available now. Discounted admission is available with the Style Ticket. Inspiration for extraordinary outfits is given by the Style Bible at www.stylebible.org.

Summer in Vienna is best enjoyed in the open air. Numerous bars and restaurants – above all on the Danube Canal – offer the perfect place to chill out, and shorten the warm summer nights.
Just a few paces from Vienna's old city, trendy beach bars along the Danube Canal provide that Riviera feeling with music, cool cocktails and delicious food. Herrmann's beach bar at the Urania is not only a hotspot during the evenings. Drop on by at the weekend for brunch from 10.00 am, accompanied by jazz on Saturdays. The Badeschiff a few steps further down is gleaming again this year after being refurbished. The pool is particularly inviting on hot summer days, the parties below deck are as hot as ever and a beer garden awaits visitors on terra firma. The outdoor area of the nearby Flex Café is also a crowd-puller in summer.
On the opposite bank of the Danube Canal, Tel Aviv Beach is open all year round from this year. Besides the beach and bar, there is now also a restaurant in Bauhaus style. The Adria Wien next door is already a long-established meeting place.
Upstream at the U4 subway station Rossauer Lände is the Summer Stage, which offers a mix of enjoyment, sport and culture as well as a relaxing view of the water. Another good place to relax is the MuseumsQuartier: hanging out in venues under the open sky, chilling out on trendy loungers (colored pink this year, following a public vote), playing boules and listening to the weekend sounds of the DJs on the side - that's modern Viennese gemütlichkeit.
The biggest beach club in the city is "Sand in the City" on Heumarkt. Beneath palm trees and on the finest sand, people come to play volleyball, pump iron at the fitness facilities and refresh themselves afterwards at the food stalls. DJs provide the right atmosphere during the evenings.
