"A very special birthday is coming up"

Mrs. Kheenagan with her family

We’ve already had the pleasure of celebrating a very special occasion here at the hotel: Ms Kheenagan will be turning 100 in November. She has been a regular guest at our hotel for more than 20 years, and her loyalty means a great deal to us and fills us with great joy and gratitude.

Together with her family, we celebrated this extraordinary birthday a little early, following the Queen’s motto: "You should celebrate when the weather is fine." With a wonderful atmosphere, plenty of good conversation and many unforgettable moments, we raised a glass to an incredible century of life.

Our entire team sends our heartfelt congratulations and wishes her all the very best for this very special milestone, above all good health and plenty of happiness.

"Autumn in Vienna"

Vienna vineyards

Autumn brings a very special kind of magic to Vienna every year. As the leaves in the parks and along the magnificent Ringstrasse turn brilliant shades of gold, red and orange, the city takes on an especially atmospheric charm. The pleasantly mild temperatures are perfect for exploring the historic streets of the city centre, taking a leisurely stroll through the spacious parks or enjoying the views from Vienna’s vineyards.

After an exceptionally hot summer, the first days of autumn and the long-awaited rain bring welcome relief to both people and nature. The city’s parks, gardens and green spaces are refreshed and burst into glorious autumn colours.

Vienna also has plenty to offer culturally at this time of year. From fascinating museums and exhibitions to concerts and cosy coffee houses, where you can enjoy the autumn atmosphere over a traditional Melange and a slice of Sachertorte. Autumn is the perfect time to discover Vienna at a relaxed pace and experience the city’s unique blend of culture, history and Viennese joie de vivre.

“50 Years of Circus-Theater Roncalli” Anniversary Tour“

50 Years of Circus-Theater Roncalli Anniversary Tour

Located right next to the venerable Burgtheater—a true home of culture—and the historic City Hall, the Roncalli Circus Theater will unfold its colorful magic starting September 16, 2026. Bernhard Paul’s Circus-Theater Roncalli is ready to kick off its grand anniversary tour to celebrate the 50th birthday of “Europe’s most admired circus” (Washington Herald Tribune).

The Roncalli team has prepared a veritable fireworks display of ideas for the 50th anniversary. “The program is not meant to be a ‘best of’ or a poetic, dreamy retrospective, but rather to open a door to the future!” says the Roncalli founder and circus director. The beloved Roncalli spirit and the courage to innovate will remain: “Strengthened by the experiences of the Roncalli concept’s 50-year history, we’re embarking on the anniversary tour with enthusiasm and passion. Let us surprise you!”

The Lady Diana of the 19th Century

A pretty, young girl from the country conquers the heart of the world’s most desirable bachelor. Although as his wife she became a favourite of the masses, she was profoundly unhappy, and eventually died a violent death. This is the stuff that myths are made of.

In the recent past, all this applied to Lady Diana Spencer, who married the British heir to the throne and subsequently met an early death. In the 19th century, it was Elisabeth, Duchess in Bavaria, whose tragic fate as the wife of Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph touched the hearts of millions.

At the Imperial Carriage Museum, visitors will be able to follow her destiny in the light of her magnificent clothing, carriages and riding accessories, as well as previously never before exhibited personal items. In order to explain her significance and fascination to overseas visitors as yet unacquainted with Sisi, videos produced specially for the exhibition also illustrate the astonishing parallels between her and the “Queen of Hearts” of the 20th century.

Picasso - Bacon

Albertina Picasso-Bacon

This major show undertakes an exciting juxtaposition of the 20th century’s two most important figurative painters: Pablo Picasso and Francis Bacon.

Bacon was inspired to become a painter by Picasso’s works. Throughout his life, he would compete with him, eventually striving to surpass him. Bacon wanted to be the late 20th-century version of what Picasso was to its first half: a chronicler of being human in all of its tornness. Both of these seminal artists placed human existence at the core of their pictorial worlds. The subject they shared was the human figure – pulled apart, thrown back together, and reinvented with an unprecedented savagery. In their distorted portrayals, they elucidated pain, desire, and vulnerability, holding up a merciless mirror to the modern soul. To both, themes such as crucifixions, screams, bullfights, nudes, and the Tears of Eros revealed the drama of life itself. Although Picasso for his part was never influenced by Bacon, he followed his career very closely.

Although Picasso himself was not influenced by Bacon, he closely followed his career. About 70 key works from international museums and private collections illustrate in an impressive confrontation the similarities in the oeuvre of the two masters and Picasso's significance for the subsequent generation of artists.
