However, Ms HORVATH, Ms GANNA and Mr RICHARD, our Advent Angels, were hard at work! Just in time on the first Sunday of Advent, our very special Hotel AUSTRIA – ADVENT WREATH is sparkling again in our breakfast room!

The first candle is already lit!

First – Mr RICHARD spent many hours on top of his ladder to mount our STRING OF LIGHTS to either side of the HOTEL ENTRANCE and decorate our entrance windows.

And then – our ladies picked up their cooking spoons, kneaded the dough and for hours, they made DELICIOUS CHRISTMAS COOKIES!

The inner courtyard of the MuseumsQuartier becomes an atmospheric winter world at Winter at MQ. With spectacular art and light projects, open dining gardens, curling lanes, concerts and DJ sounds.

The MuseumsQuartier (MQ) in Vienna is a popular meeting place in both summer and winter. At Winter in the MQ, visitors dive into a pre-Christmas winter world. The courtyard of the MuseumsQuartier transforms into an evocative winter landscape with atmospheric light projections and festively decorated Christmas trees. The food outlets have opened their outdoor dining areas and put guests in the mood for Advent with special decorations as well as Christmas food and drinks. Artistic light projections bathe the entire MQ in fantastic winter.

Remote-controlled cars race around in the pond of the MuseumsQuartier in the "Winter Race" (Sa, Su & hols. 2.00 pm - 6.00 pm). Competitions can also be held on the curling lane. Every Thursday at 7.00 pm, there's an open-air concert on the program; the DJs start playing every Tuesday and Wednesday at 6.00 pm.

Choosing the best chestnuts in the city
Hot chestnuts are as much a part of Advent as Christmas cookies and punch. Every corner in Vienna smells of this wintertime street food. To obtain their characteristic flavor, the chestnuts continue to be roasted over coal. What's more, the chestnut roasters are a historic relic. In the 18th century, Maria Theresa permitted a German minority in Slovenia to sell the edible chestnuts from their homeland as itinerant traders. A magical Advent ambience extends throughout the Hirschstetten Botanical Gardens in Vienna. A highlight is the floral Christmas exhibition, at which everything this year is based around the topic of "Christmas around the World". Those who complete the stops of the gnome trail will then enjoy a charity punch and organic treats, and can browse for gifts at the traditional Christmas market.

Harry Potter: The exhibition celebrates its European premiere in Vienna's METAStadt from December 16, 2022. Original costumes and props as well as ultra-modern installations allow the fans to dive deep into Harry Potter's world of magic.

No apprentice wizard is better known than he: Harry Potter thrills millions of fans around the world. The seven books and eight movies that recount his adventures are global box office hits. Thanks to a spectacular interactive exhibition, you too can now dive into the magic world of Harry Potter and his friends. The European premiere of Harry Potter: The Exhibition is being held at Vienna's METAStadt.

The traveling exhibition, which celebrated its world premiere in Philadelphia in February 2022, uses modern technology to enable the magical world of Harry Potter to be experienced up close. The installations and projections guarantee an immersive experience. Visitors can also marvel at many original costumes and props from the Harry Potter films, the three-part movie series "Fantastic Beasts" and the stage play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child".

Lots of interactive exhibition elements also provide the opportunity to go on a very personal magic journey: Visitors can choose their own wand, their own Hogwarts team, and much more besides. And have you ever tried Harry Potter's legendary magic sport – Quidditch – or brewed your own potion?
