On Friday, November 2nd, it happened at last: Mrs. Liza became the proud and OVERJOYED mother of beautiful baby girl Lara Hyesoo – already 49 cm tall and weighing 3.58 kg!

The proud new parents were BEAMING while Baby Lara Hyesoo greeted the new world WITH JOY AND HAPPINESS!

The Albertina dedicates the first comprehensive exhibition for over 20 years to the pioneering impressionist Claude Monet.
Most people are familiar with Claude Monet's water lilies. They are just as famous as van Gogh's sunflowers. Indeed, Monet had a weakness for the popular pond plants. In his garden in the French town of Giverny, Monet (1830-1926) even employed his own gardener just to take care of the water lilies. The paintings of the these aquatic plants can, of course, also be seen in the exhibition "Claude Monet" at the Albertina. A total of 100 paintings, including important loans works from more than 40 international museums and private collections, can be seen in this first comprehensive presentation of Monet's work in Austria for over 20 years.
The French "Master of Light", as Monet was called, was a central pioneer of painting in the 20th century. Monet's light and colors change on the canvas with the constantly changing nature. The element of water runs through his entire oeuvre. The exhibition spans the period from his first pre-impressionist works to his final paintings, which were created in the garden at Giverny. It illuminates Monet's career from Realism via Expressionism to his late works, which paved the way for the beginnings of abstract Expressionism.

To mark the 450th anniversary of the death of Pieter Bruegel the Elder, the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna is showing the world's first major monographic exhibition on the work of this exceptional artist.

Pieter Bruegel the Elder was a much sought-after artists even during his lifetime, which is why his works achieved unusually high prices at the time. On the occasion of the 450th anniversary of his death, the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna dedicates a special exhibition to the most important Dutch painter of the 16th century. It is the world's first major monographic show on his work. Only just over forty paintings and sixty prints by the master remain in existence today. With 12 panel paintings, the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna owns the world's biggest collection of Bruegel paintings. That is also mostly because the Habsburgs prized the quality and originality of Bruegel's imagery as early as the 16th century and went to the effort of acquiring famous, prestigious works by the artist.

With around 90 of his works, the exhibition in Vienna is the first to present an overview of the complete oeuvre of Pieter Bruegel the Elder: With almost 30 paintings (three quarters of the preserved painted œuvre) and half of the preserved drawings and prints, the show offers an opportunity of the century to dive into the artist's complex pictorial world, to comprehend his stylistic development and creative process, as well as to get to know his working methods, his pictorial wit and his unique narrative talent. Among the highlights to be seen in the exhibition are, for example, the Triumph of Death from the Prado in Madrid and the Tower of Babel from the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam. To date, the vast majority of the fragile wooden panels have never been loaned for exhibition purposes.

The work of Pieter Bruegel the Elder, who revolutionized landscape and genre painting, still evokes diverse and controversial interpretations. The richness of his imagery and his astute talent for observing people still exert a special fascination on viewers today. The exhibition focuses on the beginnings of Bruegel's careers as a drawer and graphic artist as well as on his innovations in the field of landscape painting. Another section of the show is given over to his religious works, with a wealth of masterpieces such as a "The Triumph of Death" and "Dulle Griet", which has been specially restored for the exhibition.

From the middle of November until Christmas, Vienna's prettiest squares transform into magical Christmas markets. The aroma of Christmas baking and hot punch sets the mood in the run-up to Christmas.

A tall arched gateway with candles receives visitors at the entrance to City Hall Square for the Vienna Christmas World on Rathausplatz. The 150 or sales booths at the traditional Christmas Market offer Christmas gifts, Christmas tree decorations, handicrafts, culinary treats, confectionery and warming drinks. The trees in City Hall park and along the Ringstrasse boulevard radiate a festive glow. Visitors can skate over a 3,000 m² ice rink and along numerous paths through the park. The Children's World offers a carousel, a reindeer train and wonderful light installations in the park, which are based on Christmas stories for children.

Not far from here is the Christmas Village on Maria-Theresien-Platz, between the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna and the Naturhistorisches Museum Vienna. Over 70 booths offering traditional handicrafts and original gift ideas are set up here during Advent. Gospel choirs and music groups create a pre-Christmas atmosphere. The Christmas Village is replaced by the New Year's Village on 27 December. The romantic Christmas Village on the University Campus is also a popular meeting point during the run-up to Christmas, especially for students. With a children's railway and an old-fashioned carousel, the Christmas Village in the Altes AKH is also a big hit with families. Two curling lanes are also available.

The Old Viennese Christmas Market on Freyung in the city center is committed to tradition. A Christmas market was held here as early as 1772; today, it is a place to buy handicrafts, glass decorations, traditional mangers and ceramics. Festive Advent music can be heard on the square from 4.00 pm. Top-quality handicrafts can also be purchased a couple of steps further along at the Am Hof Advent Market. Christmas music and choral singing provide the perfect atmosphere.

The Christmas Market in front of Schönbrunn Palace offers romance in front of an imperial backdrop, and is converted into a New Year's market after Christmas. The atmospheric market offers traditional handicrafts, hand-made Christmas decorations, Christmas concerts and an extensive children's program, including Christmas workshop. The Christmas Village at Belvedere Palace enjoys an impressive Baroque background. The unique palace gardens provide an ideal site for a tranquil Christmas market with elegant handicrafts and culinary delights.

Art Advent on Karlsplatz offers a diverse children's program and above all handicrafts to buy. Further variety is provided by 

art installations, show workshops and live bands. All of the food on offer is organically certified. There are also numerous stalls full of artisans' wares in the idyllic tiny alleyways at the Christmas Market on Spittelberg and numerous other vendors with unique culinary gift ideas.

Entertainment is the word at the Winter Market on Riesenradplatz under the slogan "The Prater rocks". There are children's adventure rides, musical live acts from Gospel to Soul and Pop and a humorous show program here until 6 January. The Imperial and Royal Christmas Market on Michaelerplatz in front of the Imperial Palace mainly presents products of Austrian manufacturers, sweet treats, pewter figures, hand-made cribs and much more in its white huts.

The Christmas Market on Stephansplatz focuses on contemplation and tradition, with around 40 booths at the foot of St. Stephen's Cathedral offering high-quality products from Austria. The Advent pleasure market at the Opera House is all about culinary delights. Gingerbread, cheese, meats, punch and wine from regional producers get connoisseurs’ hearts racing.

Jewish klezmer music thrills audiences with stirring melodies and high-spirited singing. Ensembles from around the world make music in Viennese theaters, music clubs as well as churches from November 10 to 25.

The festival series comprises 14 concerts in Vienna. Performers include the Moritz Weiß Klezmer Trio and the Roman Britschgi Quintet with the exceptional musicians Diknu Schneeberger and Matthias Loibner.

In the dignified ambiance of the Gaußplatz Church, Steve Gander & Friendscelebrate “A Tribute to Leonard Cohen,” accompanied by the three women of the Sistas Choir.

The Polish Klezmer stars Kroke recently passed their 25-year anniversary; this fall, Vienna can finally celebrate with them. The Amsterdam Klezmer Band and the band Tantz from London are bringing dance music. The concert evenings with Klezmer Reloaded featuring Marwan Abado and the musical storytelling by Sveta Kundish & Patrick Farrell will be more subtle but no less atmospheric.

The Semer Ensemble will transport the music that was released by the Semer Label in Berlin in the 1930s into the here and now: a very special evening.

The 15th KlezMore Festival offers musical support with a preview concert featuring the Vienna Klezmore Orchestra, three concerts in Bratislava, the KlezMore Festival Lounge at the Café Mocca, workshops and readings. Old black and white movies are accompanied live at Café Tachles for the Sunday silent movie matinées; the café also presents a jam session.

The intense klezmer sounds have their origins in medieval Eastern Europe, when Jewish wandering musicians played at weddings and other festivals. Violins, clarinets and flutes imitate the human voice and produce gripping melodies to captivating rhythms. Nowadays, this traditional music is being reinterpreted by many young artists. Klezmer has long been world music.
