Summer in the MQ

The summer season in the MuseumsQuartier (MQ) begins on 12 May. Numerous events will be held until September. Just stop by – you will find lots going on in the MQ all summer long.

Vienna's MuseumsQuartier (MQ) is one of the biggest cultural areas in the world. The mix of large museums, small cultural initiatives and trendy bars is a success story. This year, the summer season will begin with a free open-air concert given by the Wiener Symphoniker on May 12 at 7:00pm. It will be followed by the Summer Opening on May 17 with live concerts and free admission to all MQ institutions starting at 5:00pm. Until the end of September, the inner courtyards of the MuseumsQuartier draw visitors with a boules area, cozy guest gardens, cool weekend sounds by DJs as well as the stylish MQ furniture to relax on.

The playable sculpture park "MQ Amore” opened up again to all mini-golf fans on April 5. On the square in front of the MQ, artists have created twelve sculptures in the form of mini-golf courses, which visitors are actually allowed to play on. Open until October from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm (in summer until 10.00 pm). The international festival “MQ magicStories” on May 31 and June 1 will be all about storytelling.

The O-Töne Literature Festival organizes first-class open-air readings again, every Thursday in July and August. Film fans also get their money's worth in July and August: During the summer, the frame[o]ut festival provides audiovisual surprises on the outdoor cinema screen in the MQ, every Friday at 9.30 pm, starting on 13 July.
